We are seeking an entry level As-Needed Mapping/Surveying Technician to join our Mapping/Surveying team. The As-Needed Mapping/Surveying Technician will based in the Environmental division, but provide support for all disciplines in the firm. This position will be based in our Kailua office.
Duties and Responsibilities
Creates hard copy and digital map products using ArcGIS for various reports, meetings and exhibitsto clients, jurisdictions and end-users
Creation, maintenance and QA/QC of geographic data sets using ArcGIS including digitizing, editing, research, editing of attributes and merging of data from different sources, applications and procedures
Operates and maintains a variety of GIS equipment, including, plotters, global positioning system (GPS) receivers, and other related equipment
Provides GIS support, mobile software integration, spatial analysis, and online Web map/mobile app applications for a range of projects
Bachelor’s degree with major course work in geography, planning, ecology or related field with an emphasis in GIS (or GIS certificate)
Demonstrated competence using ESRI’s Desktop ArcGIS software applications and extensions
Demonstrated cartographic ability, including design principles and understanding of map creation procedures and standards
Experience working with end-users to determine GIS needs
Demonstrated experience with ESRI Collector, Portal for ArcGIS, Survey123
Demonstrated ability to assimilate biological, cultural and other environmental resources information from a variety of sources and present the information in map, tabular, chart, written and oral formats
Applicable work experience/internships
Experience with Adobe Illustrator a plus
Ability to interpret technical planning drawings
Knowledge or interest in biological resources and planning
